Ty Fleming is a highly accomplished professional
drummer, songwriter, and educator hailing from
Roanoke, Virginia. He discovered his passion for music
at an early age, delving into the world of gospel music.
Ty's talent and dedication led him to march with the
prestigious Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, where he
honed his drumming skills. During this time, he had the
privilege of studying under the esteemed Mark Thurston
and private instructor David Blackburn further
expanding his musical knowledge and expertise.
Eager to pursue his dreams, Ty continued his musical
education at the renowned Musicians Institute in Los
Angeles. There, he had the incredible opportunity to
study with industry giants such as Steve Houghton, Joe
Porcaro, and Ralph Humphrey. Immersed in this
inspiring environment, Ty grew as a musician and
solidified his place among the best in the industry.
Throughout his career, Ty has toured extensively across
North America, Europe, and Asia. His exceptional talent
as a drummer and songwriter has led to numerous
notable collaborations. Some of his impressive
performance and writing credits include working with
DeBarge, Norman Brown, Stevie Wonder, Larry Dunn
(former keyboardist and musical director of Earth, Wind
& Fire), Ronnie Laws, Brian Culbertson, Bruce Conte
(guitarist of Tower of Power), Peter White, Bobby Brown,
Jerry Bell, and many others.
Ty's versatility is not limited to live performances. He has
also contributed content for Yamaha synthesizers and
drum machines, creating drum programs that
showcase his expertise. Additionally, Ty has written and
performed for various radio and television projects,
including the daytime soap opera "Bold and the
Beautiful," the hit sitcom "Always Sunny in Philadelphia,"
and Corona Beer commercials.
Currently, Ty Fleming is a vital member of the Larry
Dunn Orchestra, performing and recording alongside
the legendary keyboard icon. He also collaborates with
top contemporary jazz artist Will Donato and Rodney
Taylor further showcasing his musical versatility and
creativity. In addition to his performing career, Ty is
actively involved in teaching and mentoring aspiring
musicians. He directs the Moreno Valley School District
Contemporary Music Program and offers private
lessons, sharing his knowledge and passion for music
with the next generation.
