Tyler Darnall is one of Chicago’s premier performers and percussion educators. Tyler currently holds positions instructing percussion at Lake Forest High School, Waukegan High School, and Thornton Fractional South High School. 

As an educator, Tyler has taught at the Spark Summer Clinic and the Northshore Honor Band. He has also worked with Maine West High School (IL), Waterloo East High School (IA), and The University of Northern Iowa Drumline.

Tyler actively freelances in the Chicago area and is a current member of the Northshore Concert Band. He has also performed with the Tennessee Titan’s Blue Crew Drumline, Free State Brass Band, University of Kansas West African Drum Ensemble, United States Air Force Band, and multiple bands and ensembles in the Nashville, Kansas City, and Cedar Falls areas.  He was also a participant at The Chosen Vale Percussion Seminar in Enfield, NH, So Percussion Summer Institute in Princeton, NJ, Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis, IN, and Caramoor Summer Music Festival in Katonah, NY.

Tyler holds a BM in music performance from the University of Kansas and an MM in music performance from the University of Northern Iowa.
