Zach Scheer is a leader in the field of percussion education. He is the Co-Founder and Director of Lone Star Music Camps, and was formerly the Director of Percussion for Coppell ISD in Coppell, TX, and Rockwall-Heath High School in Rockwall, TX.
 
Under his direction, Coppell High School earned top honors in marching, concert, and solo performance arenas, including 1st place in the Percussive Arts Society’s “Call for Tapes” and PASIC Marching Festival, 2nd in the Black Swamp Percussion Ensemble Showcase, and numerous caption awards and 1st place finishes at the country’s most competitive drumline and marching band contests. His percussionists at Coppell earned more chairs in TMEA All-State ensembles, “Outstanding Soloist” awards at the Texas State Solo & Ensemble contest, and medals at the North Texas Percussive Arts Society Keyboard Competition, than any other school in Texas. His students have earned music scholarships to study at The University of North Texas, Berklee, and The University of Texas, and have gone on to march with top Drum Corps.
 
Zach is now an in-demand adjudicator and clinician, most recently presenting clinics at the University of North Texas and the Texas Bandmaster’s Association Convention on topics such as “Percussion Directing 101”, and “Success in the Beginning Percussion Classroom.”
 
After graduating from high school in Oklahoma, Zach attended the University of North Texas, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Music Education. While at UNT, he performed in the Classical, Brazilian, and Afro-Cuban Percussion Ensembles, Contemporary Pop Ensemble, Advanced Steel Band, Green Brigade Marching Band, and the 2008 PASIC Champion UNT Indoor Drumline. In addition, he studied with world renowned percussion educators Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, Ed Soph, Ed Smith, Jose Aponte, and Paul Rennick.
 
In the summer of 2008, he performed as a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps show entitled "Spartacus". Under the direction of percussion caption head Paul Rennick, Phantom Regiment won the DCI High Percussion award, and the full corps was named DCI World Champion. In addition, the Regiment percussion section gave a feature performance and clinic at the 2008 Percussive Arts Society International Convention.
 
Zach's professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association. He is an educational artist for Innovative Percussion and Mapex/Majestic Concert and Marching Percussion. Mr. Scheer resides in North Texas with his wife and two sons.
